What are Cosmetic Injectables?

Cosmetic injectables encompass a wide range of substances that are injected to enhance facial aesthetics. The most common types of facial injections are neuromodulators such as Botox Cosmetic, commonly referred to as just Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau, and dermal fillers such as Restylane™ and Juvederm™. We also offer Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and PRF Gel injections, which amplify the natural growth factors found in our blood cells to help achieve desired results.

Neuromodulators:

Neuromodulators reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily paralyzing, or relaxing targeted facial muscles. It’s commonly used to treat forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, resulting in a smoother and more youthful appearance. Currently, we offer the following neuromodulators:

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF):

Platelet-rich fibrin, or PRF, is a treatment that includes drawing the patient’s blood, drawing out only plasma from the blood, and injecting the platelets into a patient’s face, neck, or scalp using a syringe or microneedling. This procedure restores volume and creates a healthy glow to the skin by stimulating new cell growth while also healing damaged tissue. When injected in the scalp, it can aid in new hair growth.

• PRF Gel

  • PRF Gel combines your body’s platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) with albumin to create a natural filler that may be safer and more versatile than some injectables, such as traditional fillers, as it uses your body’s own blood components vs. synthetic materials.

Pre-and-Post-Injectable Instructions

Whether you’re a first-time patient or have received injectables in the past, Dr. Sharon will consult with you to discuss the risks, potential side effects, and associated costs of injectable treatments. There is a $75.00 consultation fee that is collected at the time you book a consultation for any aesthetic treatment at Foresight Care and Aesthetics, which is later applied to the total cost of your aesthetic procedure. We also have a 48 hour cancellation policy for aesthetic consultations and appointments. Should you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, your consultation fee will not be refunded.

Prior to Injections:

To prepare for your injection appointment, please adhere to the following guidelines:

• Timeframe for Previous Treatments: Patients should refrain from receiving any Neuromodulators within 15 days or dermal fillers or PRF injections within 4 weeks prior to their appointment.
• Medication and Supplements: Avoid anti-inflammatory pain medicines, such as Tylenol and Advil, as well as non-essential dietary supplements for two weeks leading up to the injection appointment.
• Skin Preparation: Refrain from waxing, bleaching, tweezing, and prolonged sun exposure to the injection areas for 5 days prior to injections.
• Alcohol Consumption: Avoid alcohol intake in the 24 hours preceding your injection appointment to minimize the risk of bruising and bleeding.

These pre-injection instructions are designed to optimize results and reduce the likelihood of adverse effects.

After Injections:

After your injectable treatment, observe the following post-injection guidelines:

• Activity Restrictions: Refrain from exercising, increasing blood flow to the injection sites, using saunas, and heavy lifting for 48 hours.
• Positioning: Avoid laying down for at least 4 hours post-injection to allow the product to settle properly.
• Neuromodulator (Botox) Injections: Expect mild redness, swelling, and bruising at injection sites for up to 3 days post-treatment. Avoid exercise, saunas, facials, lasers, and microneedling for 48 hours. Take Tylenol or NSAIDs for headaches as needed. Full effects may take up to 14 days, and additional units may be injected after 15 days if necessary.
• Dermal Fillers: Swelling and bruising are common for up to 2 weeks following treatment. Avoid applying pressure or laying on treatment areas, as well as facials, microneedling, and massages during this time. For lip filler treatments, refrain from using straws, smoking/vaping, and kissing for 1 week post-treatment. Report any abnormal pain, swelling, or discoloration of treatment areas to your provider immediately. Additional injections may be considered after 4 weeks if desired results are not achieved.
• PRF: Expect swelling and some bruising for up to two weeks post-injection. Do not touch the injection site except for mild cleansing (no rubbing or laying on the injection site) for 3 days post-procedure. Avoid using ice or anti-inflammatories, tanning/sun exposure, facials, or massage for two weeks post-procedure. If PRF with microneedling was performed, leave the product on your skin or scalp for at least 24 hours.
